  • Leek or Green Onion: 1 stalk (chopped)
  • Boiled Eggs: 2 (optional)
  • Water: 500ml
  • Cooking Oil: 1 tbsp
  • Sesame Seeds, Green Onion: for garnish
  • ???? Tteokbokki Sauce:
  • Korean Chili Paste (Gochujang): 2 tbsp
  • Korean Chili Powder (Gochugaru): 1 tbsp (adjust to taste)
  • Soy Sauce: 1 tbsp
  • Sugar: 1 tbsp
  • Minced Garlic: 1 tsp

Instructions

1) Prepare the rice cakes

Soak MATAMUN - Reiskuchen (Tteok) in warm water for about 15 minutes to soften. Make the sauce

2) Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan

Sauté minced garlic, then add Gochujang, Gochugaru, soy sauce, and sugar. Stir well. Pour in 500ml water and bring to a gentle boil.

3) Cook the Tteokbokki

Add rice cakes to the sauce and simmer over medium heat for 8-10 minutes until soft. Add fish cakes and boiled eggs, and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

4) Finish & serve

Once the sauce thickens, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onion.
Serve hot! You can also add cheese for extra creaminess.
